Two Olympic Peninsula Academy/Sequim High School students, Brayden Baritelle and Emma Rhodes, were recently recognized for exemplifying an important lesson reinforced in schools every day: service to others.

Brayden and Emma were named recipients of the 2026 Clallam County Community Service Youth Award, honoring their commitment to supporting and strengthening their community through volunteerism and leadership.

The awards were presented during the Clallam County Community Service Awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 6 in Port Angeles. Hosted by Peninsula Daily News, Soroptimist International of Port Angeles–Noon Club, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, the event celebrates individuals of all ages who make a meaningful impact through service.

This year marked the first time youth were recognized in a dedicated category, highlighting the important contributions young people are making across Clallam County.

Brayden and Emma were selected for their ongoing dedication to service and their willingness to step up when others need support. Their actions reflect the values of empathy, responsibility, and leadership encouraged in classrooms and school communities.

The youth awards were presented by Sarah Maloney of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula and Eran Kennedy, Regional Publisher for Sound Publishing, alongside adult honorees recognized for their community contributions.
