Reading Detectives

Students brought a sense of excitement and curiosity to their literacy work as they used real magnifying glasses to examine their Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) texts. With a “detective” focus, they searched for clues to help them practice key reading skills such as summarizing, making inferences, and identifying the main idea.

Throughout the year, students have been building their ability to use text evidence to support their thinking and deepen their understanding of literature. This hands-on approach added a new layer of engagement, turning an everyday lesson into something memorable and fun while reinforcing important academic skills.
